On the night of 17 to 18 October 2026, regional criminal investigators began investigating a violent crime in the village of Jílové in the Děčín area. Police are classifying it as murder and attempted murder. The suspect is a 52-year-old man who, according to police, killed his mother and then attempted to kill his wife.[1]
The man fled from police patrol cars, and on Sunday, 18 October, shortly before 1 a.m., he crashed into a truck on the D8 motorway near Nová Ves in the Mělník area. According to police, the vehicle hit the truck on the D8 motorway before Prague at high speed. [2] Paramedics took him to the Vinohrady University Hospital in Prague.[1][2]

Death of the Suspect and Motion to Discontinue Prosecution
