A rally in support of public service media took place on 27 October 2026 in front of the Faculty of Law of Palacký University Olomouc. Deník reports hundreds of participants, while according to iDNES.cz about a hundred people attended.[1][2] According to a speaker, the organisers gathered symbolically at one minute to twelve.[1][2]
Demands
The students criticised the way a change in the funding of Czech Television and Czech Radio is being pushed through. A bill envisages abolishing television and radio licence fees and moving the funding of both institutions to the state budget; the student chamber of the faculty's academic senate asked legislators to reject it.[1][2] According to the speakers, it is not only about money but about the independence of the media.[1]
