Stará Chodovská is a locality that forms part of the town of Chodov in the Sokolov area. A regional road between Vřesová and Vintířov passes through it. A bridge on this road crosses the Chodovský stream and a local road. According to 2025 traffic census data, an average of 1,628 motor vehicles pass through it in both directions daily, including trucks and scheduled buses, and it serves as a connection for residents of the surrounding municipalities as well as for supply transport.[1]
The bridge reconstruction is financed by the Karlovy Vary Region and carried out by the company VIAMONT Servis. The original construction price was approximately 19.7 million crowns including VAT. At the beginning of October 2026, the Regional Road Administration and Maintenance of the Karlovy Vary Region announced that the construction would be extended because additional defects had been discovered. The sides of the beams and the joints between them need to be repaired, exposed reinforcement needs to be treated, and protective filling needs to be added around the prestressing cables; due to new bearings, the bearing sills on both abutments must be demolished and recast to a greater extent. The road administration wants to put the bridge back into operation at the beginning of December, provided no further unforeseen circumstances arise. The price increase is not yet known.[1]
