The Regional Authority of the South Bohemian Region is to operate with 441 employees in 2027. The regional leadership announced this in a press release on 26 September 2026.[1][2]

Gradual reduction since 2021

In 2021 the authority had 542 employees, so the planned headcount is 101 lower. According to the regional leadership, the reduction means savings of almost CZK 200 million over six years. The authority's annual budget is roughly CZK 350 million.[2]

Lukáš Glaser, the director of the authority, said that the optimisation took place gradually over individual years and that the last changes were prepared in 2026 with effect from 2027. He described them as a reduction of approximately twenty percent compared with 2021.[1] After the 2020 elections, Governor Martin Kuba (Naše Česko) announced a plan to carry out a staffing audit; according to him, the number of officials was to be cut where possible, but not at any price.[1]

According to Glaser, the remaining employees receive higher salaries, and the region is trying to offer good working conditions and benefits.[1]
