Road I/20 is the main road route from České Budějovice to Plzeň, on which a bypass of Češnovice and Dasný is being built.

Road I/20 is one of the busiest first-class roads in the South Bohemian Region and the main route between České Budějovice and Plzeň.[1][2]
Bypass of Češnovice and Dasný
The realignment at Češnovice and Dasný is to take traffic away from these villages, through which the road has so far run. According to Deník, more than 20,000 vehicles a day pass through the section.[1] Construction at a cost of CZK 1.26 billion excluding VAT began in August 2024 and, according to the sources, the whole is to be finished in 2027.[1][2] From 3 October 2026, all traffic between Pištín and the grade-separated interchange in České Vrbné was to be moved onto the completed first half of the bypass, with one lane in each direction and the speed limited to 70 km/h.[1][2] Work is to continue on the second half of the carriageway; the grade-separated interchange at Češnovice could be in operation by the end of 2026.[1][2]
Planned reconstruction
According to Deník, the bypass is to be followed by a reconstruction of the road between Písek and České Budějovice. It is to take five years and cost approximately CZK 3.7 billion. Once completed, the road is to have a two-plus-one lane layout, and the project is to include a grade-separated interchange at Protivín and a rebuilding of the bridge in Protivín. The section between Protivín and Vodňany is to be built first.[1]
