The program 360° on CNN Prima NEWS discussed the possible effects of abolishing television and radio licence fees, a measure pushed by the governing coalition of ANO, SPD and the Motorists. The debate escalated into a heated argument between MP Jindřich Rajchl (PRO, elected for SPD) and the first deputy chairman of KDU-ČSL, Benjamin Činčila.[1]
Rajchl defended voluntary payment of the fees, comparing them to a highway toll sticker. In his view, people should not be forced to pay for a service they do not use. Činčila countered that public broadcasting serves the whole of society, not just individual viewers according to their personal preferences.[1]
Rajchl called external contractors of Czech Television "parasites," claiming they draw roughly eight billion crowns. He argued that their contracts are overpriced and that the public institution does not manage its finances with sufficient transparency. The moderator, Pavlína Wolfová, urged that people working on a trade licence (IČO) should not be called parasites. Činčila told Rajchl: "Stop shouting, you're behaving like a lout."[1]
Činčila also commented on the debate on social media, describing Rajchl's manner of communication as unacceptable. After the program ended, Rajchl reiterated on Facebook his opposition to the fees, which he called an outdated relic.[1]
