Radek Haratek is a brigadier general and the commander of the Information and Cyber Forces Command.[1] According to Deník N, the Czech Armed Forces consist of land, air, information and cyber, and territorial forces.[3]
Information and Cyber Forces Command
The task of the information and cyber forces is the planning, coordination and management of operations in cyberspace and the information environment, civil-military cooperation, building a common picture of the situation in cyberspace, and support for the strategic communication of the General Staff.[3]
Dispute over remaining in office
According to his reply to an interpellation by the MP Pavel Růžička (ANO), the Minister of Defence Jaromír Zůna instructed the Chief of the General Staff Miroslav Hlaváč to dismiss Haratek as head of the command and move him to another service post.[1] In a statement to the media, the General Staff said that Haratek remains in office and has the confidence of the Chief of the General Staff.[1][2] The army also said that it does not comment on personnel matters and possible further steps.[1]
The former Minister of Defence Jana Černochová (ODS) responded by asking whether the decision on dismissing the commander is, under the applicable rules, made by the minister or by the Chief of the General Staff. She said that personnel powers are governed by Order of the Minister of Defence No. 5/2023 and that, according to an earlier statement by the ministry, the minister decides on the service assignment of force commanders.[1]
