Radek Černý is a physician and the ODS candidate in the 2026 Senate elections in district 51, Žďár nad Sázavou.[2][5]

In the first round he received 11,372 votes, or 25.62 percent. Josef Klement (KDU-ČSL) received 11,373 votes and advanced to the second round, in which he was due to face Michal Šmarda on 16 and 17 October 2026; Šmarda won the first round with 12,254 votes.[4][5] According to Echo24, it was the smallest margin between the last qualifier and the first non-qualifier in the history of Senate elections.[5]

After the result was announced, Černý said that he respected the defeat and that he had campaigned for half a year. By his own account, he had not yet decided on a recount of the votes.[4] Jihlavská Drbna reports that a margin of one vote is not in itself a reason for a recount and that a specific suspicion of a counting error would have to be documented.[2]
