President Petr Pavel received at Prague Castle on 20 October 2026 representatives of youth organisations of the parties and movements that have their own parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. According to Blesk, he wanted to talk with them about affordable housing, mental health and artificial intelligence.[1][2]
Course of the meeting
At the outset Pavel said he believed in a debate that is "not only open but also mutually beneficial" and that he wanted to learn how representatives of the young generation perceive things and what solutions or obstacles they see. According to him, the outcome of the debate could be carried into the Chamber of Deputies and into the president's talks with ministers or the prime minister.[1][2]
Earlier meetings
Prague Castle stated in advance that the president wants to continue the dialogue with the young generation and support its involvement in public life. According to iDNES.cz and Blesk, representatives of all these groupings attended except the governing Motoristé.[1][2]
According to Blesk, it was the president's third meeting with young politicians. He received them for the first time at Prague Castle in July 2025 and for the second time in July 2026 in Lány, where he spoke with them among other things about motivation to enter politics and about communication.[1][2]
