On 8 October 2026 the city of Ostrava presented a book on the history and heritage restoration of Vila Grossmann.

The city of Ostrava presented the publication Vila Grossmann on 8 October 2026, a book on the history and restoration of the listed villa of the same name [1]. The book has 349 pages and two parts: the history of the house and its residents, and the heritage restoration of 2021–2024, which ranks among the largest restorations of 20th-century architectural monuments in the Moravian-Silesian Region [1].
The authors are a six-member team of historians, heritage specialists and architects. The book was published by the municipal company Černá louka with financial support from the city, the region and the company Morys, which revitalised the villa [1]. Readers can get it at the Vila Grossmann information centre and at OstravaInfo branches [1].
The text is complemented by previously unpublished historic photographs and pictures from the reconstruction. Large-format comparison photographs of the staircase hall show it in 1924, 1955, 2021 and 2026; after 1939 the hall was given a ceiling and adapted as part of two residential units [1]. According to an excerpt from the book printed by Deník, the builder František Grossmann drew on the Heimatschutzstil trend when designing the family villa with an office building in the summer of 1922 [2].
Mayor Jan Dohnal said that many specialists took part in saving the monument and that the condition of the building before reconstruction had been worsened by, among other things, dry rot and unsuitable alterations [1].
