The Rescue Unit of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic built a temporary bridge over the Ostravice river in Vratimov, testing the cooperation of the integrated rescue system units.
A tactical exercise of the integrated rescue system units took place in Vratimov on the Ostravice river, aimed at the quick restoration of a transport link after a flood. A report on it was published by Ostravská Drbna on 31 October 2026.[1]
Course of the exercise
At the request of the Fire Rescue Service of the Moravian-Silesian Region, the Rescue Unit of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic built a temporary AM 70 EX bridge structure across the river. It was assembled from four bridge spans and the firefighters put it up in two and a half hours. Heavy vehicles then drove over it.[1]
The exercise was meant to test the speed and efficiency of cooperation among firefighters, police officers and medical rescuers when a transport link is restored after floods and other emergencies. The programme also included a demonstration of special vehicles, such as the Hägglunds tracked amphibious vehicle and the Argo amphibious vehicle.[1]
