Prague police announced on 26 October 2026 that they are considering mass DNA sampling around Klánovický les in Prague. An incident took place there on the evening of 17 September 2026 in which an unknown man allegedly attacked a runner with a stick. Police informed the public about the case at the end of September and released a possible likeness of the wanted man; they are investigating on suspicion of bodily harm and rioting.[1][2][3]

According to police, investigators secured a biological trace at the scene from which an unambiguous genetic profile was obtained. Mass sampling around the site of the incident is one of the options for identifying the other participant.[1][2]

After the case was made public, officers obtained new findings and set further possible lines of inquiry. Police spokesman Jan Daněk said that the case may not be as clear-cut as it first seemed and that it is important to question the other participant in the incident as well. Police called on him to come forward at any police station. They also asked the public for information through line 158.[1][2][3]
