According to partial results of an external audit, Václav Havel Airport Prague awarded 267 contracts worth roughly CZK 780 million without a tender between 2022 and July 2026.

The company Václav Havel Airport Prague awarded 267 contracts worth roughly CZK 780 million without a tender between 2022 and July 2026. This follows from partial results of an external audit, a presentation of which the Czech News Agency had at its disposal as of 9 October 2026 [1].
Figures from the presentation
For further contracts with a combined value of CZK 3.37 billion, only a single bidder applied or the airport approached a specific supplier. In the same period the company awarded 959 contracts worth CZK 17.7 billion through tenders [1].
The audit
The forensic audit was commissioned in August 2026 by the company's new management, headed by Radomír Lašák. It is carried out by the law firm Kinstellar [1][2]. The airport did not officially comment on the partial results. Communications director Marek Zeman confirmed that the review by external law firms is still under way and said: “We will report on the results only after it has finished.” [1][2]
According to the original plans the audit is to be finished by the end of 2026. According to the Czech News Agency, the auditors' work is complicated by the fact that some units of the company have not yet supplied the requested materials. The airport's supervisory board is to deal with the complications at its meeting on 20 October 2026 [1][2]. According to the Czech News Agency, the company's management also wants to change the existing way exceptions are used when awarding some contracts, because the airport plans large investments and construction projects in the coming years [1][2].
Context
The previous airport management was earlier criticised by Finance Minister Alena Schillerová (ANO), who also announced that the audit would take place [1][2]. Lašák joined the company's management on 1 August 2026, and the board of directors elected him its chairman on 3 August. His selection drew criticism from some employees, and because of it the trade unions declared strike readiness on 21 July. The chairman of the airport's 1st basic trade union organisation, Marek Sedlák, told the Czech News Agency that the unions would meet to end it the following week [1][2].
