The French waste-management group Paprec has signed an agreement to take over all waste-handling activities of the Danish group Marius Pedersen A/S in Czechia and Slovakia. Both sides announced the signing in a press release on Monday, 12 October 2026. According to Seznam Zprávy, the deal had already been agreed the weekend before.[1][2][3]
Subject of the deal
The activities being sold belong to the company Marius Pedersen, based in Hradec Králové. According to reports, it employs about 3,500 people at more than 80 sites and facilities. Around 25,000 industrial customers and almost 2,000 local authorities use its services, and it handles roughly two million tonnes of waste a year. The company's turnover for the previous year exceeded 300 million euros, about 7.3 billion crowns.[2][3]
Price and conditions
The parties did not disclose the purchase price. Hospodářské noviny reported that it could be around 15 billion crowns, a figure also taken over by Ekonomický deník and E15. Seznam Zprávy quote an estimate by Martin Vachata of the advisory firm Talers of 18 to 21 billion crowns and an estimate by Marek Rehberger of Patria Corporate Finance of roughly 15 billion.[1][2][3]
Completion of the transaction is subject to approval by the competition authorities in Czechia and Slovakia. According to the press release, the parties expect closing in the coming months. According to the same source, Paprec has already secured financing from banks it has long worked with.[2][3]
The parties
The Paprec group was founded in France in 1994 and is majority-owned by the Petithuguenin family; its shareholders also include Bpifrance, Vauban Infrastructure Partners, Crédit Agricole, BNP and Arkéa. After completing the acquisition it is to operate 720 facilities in 15 countries and employ almost 30,000 people. At the end of 2026 it expects a turnover of almost five billion euros. In August 2026 Paprec bought an 80 percent stake in the Austrian waste-management division Brantner green solutions, which also operates in Czechia.[1][3]
Paprec chief executive Mathieu Petithuguenin said the group wants to support the development of Marius Pedersen with new investment and by sharing industrial and technological know-how. Simon Hovgaard Clausen, chief executive of Marius Pedersen A/S, described Paprec as a partner that will support the company's long-term development and preserve its employees and expertise.[1][3]
According to Seznam Zprávy, Czech investors were also interested in the assets. The seller was represented by KPMG as exclusive financial adviser.[1]
