On 8 October 2026, the multimedia exhibition Sněžka 1603 was presented to journalists in the lower station of the cable car to Sněžka in Pec pod Sněžkou. According to the Czech News Agency, it was presented by representatives of the town hall and the company Lanová dráha Sněžka (LDS).[1]
The exhibition covers more than 170 square metres and links the stories, nature and history of the Giant Mountains. It was created in the premises of a former bistro. The costs of eight million crowns were covered by LDS from its own funds; the Krkonoše National Park Administration contributed to the content.[1][2]
The main feature of the hall is a relief model of Sněžka and its surroundings, about 4.3 metres long, with video mapping that shows how the landscape changes through the seasons, hiking trails and mountain buildings. Other parts include the semicircular panoramic projection Natural Elements and Sněžka, a floor projection, touch screens, games, quizzes and peepholes. A separate section works with the figure of Krakonoš. The content is available in Czech, German and Polish.[1]
LDS director Jiří Špetla said the exhibition is meant to let visitors get to know Sněžka before the journey to the summit and to make the wait for the cable car more pleasant in the peak season. According to the Czech News Agency, the exhibition was built by the company M Plus.[1]
