Monika Absolonová is a Czech singer and musical actress. According to Blesk, she has won two Thalia Awards for her performances. In an interview for Novinky she herself mentioned three bronze Slavík awards.[1][2] According to her own words in Novinky, her work commitments are booked up to 2028.[2]
Career
In an interview for Radiožurnál she described how she established herself as a musical actress in the second half of the 1990s. Among her roles and productions she mentioned the musicals Dracula and Cleopatra and the opening of the Broadway theatre.[3] Director Jindřich Procházka is making a feature-length documentary about her.[2]
Concert for her fiftieth birthday
For her fiftieth birthday she prepared a concert at the O2 universum in Prague. According to Blesk, the concert was sold out nine months in advance.[5] In her words to iDNES, it is a concert without guests, built on her singing, in which she also wants to dance. She told Radiožurnál that she had rehearsed songs again for the concert that she had not sung for years.[3][4] According to Blesk, she was to sing favourite pop songs, songs from the musicals in which she has appeared and pieces from her latest album Láska.[6]
