Some voters in Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí in the Ostrava area received incorrectly printed ballot papers in their letterboxes ahead of the 2026 municipal elections. One side shows candidates for the council of this municipality of about three thousand people, the other candidates from Kobeřice in the Opava area. Such ballot papers are invalid. Český rozhlas-Radiožurnál drew attention to the problem on 6 October 2026.[1]

Municipality's response

The municipality stated on its website that a printing error caused by the supplier occurred in a certain percentage of packs. It asked voters to check their ballot papers and make sure that both sides show candidates for the council of Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí; a correct ballot paper can be used. A faulty ballot paper, or one whose correctness the voter is unsure of, can be exchanged at the polling station from the precinct commission, or new ballot papers can be collected beforehand at the municipal office. Faulty ballot papers would be counted as invalid.[1][2]

The elections take place on Friday and Saturday, 9 and 10 October 2026.[1]
