In the 2026 local elections in the municipality of Rozvadov in the Tachov area, the Association of Independent Candidates Rozvadov of the current mayor Martin Ábel won with 79 percent of the votes. The association was defending eight seats. In second place was the association With Heart for Rozvadov with eight percent; third, with seven percent, was the group Home, whose candidate list consisted of employees of the local King’s Casino. The association New Vision Rozvadov, whose list also included people professionally connected with the casino, received six percent. This was reported on 10 October 2026 by the Czech News Agency.[1]

Turnout in the municipality reached 81 percent. Rozvadov has about 800 inhabitants, of whom roughly 500 are eligible to vote. Mayor Ábel received the most preferential votes, 340.[1]

According to the Czech News Agency, the casino’s management had at one point tried to push through a multibillion-crown logistics centre project in the municipality. Deputy mayor Lumír Vilímec said earlier that police had been at the municipal office because of people newly registering for permanent residence and because of the list of casino employees. According to the municipal leadership, cooperation with the casino has long worked and there were no problems; the deputy mayor said that the municipality does not understand why candidates from among the employees registered for permanent residence at the casino’s address three months before the election. Vilímec finished second in the ranking.[1]

The casino with a 400-room hotel is the largest employer in the area. According to a member of the election commission, up to 50 local residents work there and unemployment in the municipality is almost zero. The municipality’s annual budget exceeds 100 million crowns. From casino revenues, which are distributed through the Ministry of Finance, the municipality is to receive about 70 million crowns this year and roughly 50 million next year.[1]
