Karel Ksandr is the director of the National Technical Museum in Prague.[1][2]

Exhibition on the Hainz family

On 13 October 2026, together with the museum curator David Hamr, he presented to journalists the exhibition The Saga of the Hainz Family, created for the 190th anniversary of the founding of the clockmaking firm Hainz.[1][2]

According to Ksandr, the commemoration of the Hainz family is part of a programme in which the museum presents firms that survived the Nazi occupation and the communist regime and continue to operate after restitutions. In addition to Hainz, he said, the company Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth had previously been presented within this programme.[1][2]

In connection with the exhibition, Ksandr recalled that the Hainz firm was founded by Ludvík Hainz in 1836 and that, in his words, the founder anticipated a development towards industrial production, while the firm's production programme began to focus on tower clocks in the 1880s.[1][2]
