A unit with new public toilets has been installed in the Štěrkoviště recreation area in Otrokovice. According to a statement from the town, the facility will offer four stainless-steel cubicles of vandal-resistant design and, unlike the existing seasonal facilities, will be available all year round. The town justifies its construction by the growing year-round attendance of the area.[1][2]

Payment

In the main season, the toilets are to be part of the services covered by admission to the area. In the period when no admission is charged, using them will cost a fee. Payment will be possible only without cash, by card, and the facility will have no coin box. According to the town, the charge is also meant to help prevent misuse of the spaces that are open all year.[1][2]

Commissioning

The unit was placed on site and fixed in place by crane. Connection to utilities and commissioning of the technology, including the cashless payment system, are to follow. A town spokeswoman said the date of entry into service depends on the completion of this work and on verifying that the whole facility functions, and the town intends to inform the public about the opening. The town obtained a European Union subsidy for building the toilets.[1][2]
