Štěrkoviště is a recreation area in the town of Otrokovice, used for relaxation, sport and leisure. According to the town, visitor numbers are rising even outside the summer season [1]. Admission to the area is charged in the main season and not outside it [1][2].

Facilities

The existing sanitary facilities operated only seasonally. The town of Otrokovice therefore had a unit with new public toilets installed, which is to operate all year round and offer four stainless-steel, vandal-resistant cubicles. It obtained a European subsidy for the construction [1][2].

According to town spokeswoman Lenka Vaculová, the connection to utilities and the setup of cashless payments are still missing, so the opening date depends on completing this work. In the main season the toilets will be included in the admission price; outside it, use is to be paid for by card only, with no coin slot [1][2]. The town had a project for the renewal of the forest park prepared, and a marked entry ban applies until it is carried out. [3] The expert assessment of the forest park at Štěrkoviště covered 279 trees; intervention is recommended for 211 of them and removal for 42, with 35 ash trees predominating among those to be felled.
