The Committee of Good Will – Olga Havlová Foundation has received a burial plot at Vyšehrad in Prague as a gift. According to a statement by the committee of 30 September 2026, it is intended for donors who remembered the foundation in their will and have no close person to arrange their funeral. [1][2]
Design of the site
The design of the site is being prepared together with the Kmentová Zoubek Endowment Fund, whose representatives offered the foundation a sculpture by Olbram Zoubek. It would replace the existing gravestone and would be added to the sculptor's other works at Vyšehrad. [1][2]
First burial
The first person to be buried in the honorary plot is to be a female donor who bequeathed all her property to the foundation. According to the committee, she had long worked towards a memorial to Jan Palach and Jan Zajíc, and Olga Havlová supported her effort. [1][2]
Background
The committee said that bequests are a significant financial support for it and an expression of donors' trust. In mid-September 2026 the Month of Charitable Bequests began in Czechia, a campaign promoting bequests in favour of charitable organisations. [1][2] The Committee of Good Will was founded in 1990 by Olga Havlová together with friends from Charter 77, and the name Olga Havlová Foundation was added two years later. Since its founding it has helped organisations and individuals with more than one billion Czech crowns. [1][2]
