Hana Fleischmannová is the director of the South Bohemian veterinary administration.

In October 2026 she commented on the culling of a flock of roughly 30,000 hens in Dynín in the České Budějovice area. The reason was the repeated occurrence of salmonella on the farm, where the regional veterinary administration had earlier adopted extraordinary veterinary measures. The veterinary administration has carried out regular inspections at the farm since June 2026, filed a criminal complaint on suspicion of animal cruelty at the end of September 2026, and police were also present at an inspection in mid-October 2026 and are examining the complaint. [4]

Fleischmannová said that this was the first time they had ordered the culling of a flock because of salmonella. According to the veterinarians, the farm had long failed to meet the prescribed conditions, rats moved among the cages and helped spread the infection, and the laying hens were emaciated and featherless. [3] According to her, farmers usually arrange slaughter at a slaughterhouse, but in this case the hens were in such a condition that it was not possible. The company Mavela Dynín, whose representatives ran the farm, disagrees with the suspicion of cruelty. [5]

The culling of the flock began on 26 October 2026 and, according to the veterinary administration, was to last until Tuesday 27 October 2026. [3]
