In the Louny Senate district, the seat is to be decided only in the second round after the first round of voting on 9 and 10 October 2026. According to iDNES.cz, the incumbent senator Ivo Trešl, who is defending his seat, was in the lead.[1]
Trešl said that he counts on the support of two candidates who did not succeed in the first round, Leo Steiner (JsmePRO!) and Ivana Hluštíková, who ran under the label Zelení + Czech Pirate Party. According to him, they are to call on their voters to consider supporting him, and they also offered help with the campaign.[2]
In the second round, Trešl, a physician by profession, wants to concentrate on three topics: accessible health care and the operation of the two hospitals in the region, keeping young people in the region, and the question of drought with a falling groundwater level, which according to him affects mainly the Rakovník area and part of the Žatec area.[1]
Trešl said that he had expected a significantly closer result and a better result for Leo Steiner. In 2020, Trešl won the second round with 58.39 percent of the vote.[2]
