The Vysočina Region is adding two floors and a roof to the parking garage on the Nemocnice Jihlava grounds, raising its capacity to up to 704 spaces instead of the original 431; the completion date is being pushed back.

In October 2026 the Vysočina Region announced an expansion of the parking garage under construction on the grounds of Nemocnice Jihlava. Instead of the original 431 parking spaces it is to have up to 704, which is 273 more. The garage was originally due to open in autumn 2026, but because of the change the completion date is being pushed back.[1][2]
Scope of the change
Under the original plan the building was to have one underground and four above-ground floors. The region is adding two more floors and a roof that will also be used for parking. Regional governor (hejtman) Martin Kukla described the expansion earlier as the last option for increasing the number of parking spaces on the hospital grounds, since no other land of its own is available there for parking.[1] At their most recent meeting, the councillors of Jihlava approved an amendment to the zoning plan, which was required for a building eighteen metres high.[1]
According to regional office spokeswoman Jitka Svatošová, the work cannot be divided so that the lower floors serve drivers while the upper ones are being completed, because the individual floors are technologically interlinked and safety has to be ensured.[1]
Construction progress and deadlines
The foundations are finished and builders are working on the reinforced-concrete structures of the second above-ground floor. Work is roughly two to three weeks behind the original schedule.[2] The region is preparing an amendment to the construction contract and is negotiating new deadlines; according to Svatošová they have not yet been set and are being recalculated. She said the budget has not increased.[1][2]
A pavilion for geriatric, follow-up and rehabilitation care is also under construction on the hospital grounds. The total cost of the two buildings will exceed CZK 1.6 billion.[1] The garage is being built using BIM with a digital 3D model and can be followed online.[1] The parking fee has not yet been set. Hospital spokeswoman Monika Zachrlová said that hospitalised patients have discounted parking and that the region plans to keep it.[1]
