Dmitrij Jaškin is a Czech ice hockey forward born in Omsk, a product of the Vsetín youth system, who played in the NHL and the KHL.

Dmitrij Jaškin is a Czech ice hockey forward, a native of Omsk and a product of the Vsetín youth system. At the age of fifteen he moved to Slavia, for whom he made his debut in the Extraliga.[1]

The path overseas

In 2011 he was picked by St. Louis in the second round of the draft, 41st overall, and in 2012 he went to North America. In the NHL he played 303 games for St. Louis and Washington, in which he collected 69 points (27 goals, 42 assists). According to Czech Television he played at the last two World Championships (before 2020) and at the World Cup of Hockey in 2016.[1]

Dynamo Moscow and the KHL

He headed to Moscow Dynamo after seven years in North America, according to a report of 17 April 2020 in the previous year. In the season, which was not completed because of the coronavirus pandemic, he scored 31 goals in 58 games and collected 63 points in total. According to Czech Television he was the second-best scorer of the league behind Kirill Kaprizov, who scored two goals more, and second in productivity behind his teammate Vadim Shipachyov. In the play-offs he added six points in six games and helped Dynamo to advance past Spartak Moscow. He also broke the club record for the number of goals, which until then had been held by the Swede Mattias Weinhandl with 27 goals from the 2009/10 season.[1]

According to a report of the Czech News Agency of 17 April 2020, Dynamo extended his contract by two years.[1] Czech Television also reported that he became the first Czech to win the title of most valuable player of the KHL regular season and in his debut season in the league received the Golden Stick award.[2]
