Czech Killer is the Czech competition section of the international series festival Serial Killer in Brno. It was held for the first time in 2026, when the festival ran from 23 to 28 September.[1][2]

Focus and jury

The section was created to draw attention to the growing number and quality of series by Czech broadcasters.[3] The jury consisted of the writer and screenwriter Petra Soukupová, the writer and music journalist Pavel Klusák and the film critic and historian Jindřiška Bláhová.[3]

First edition in 2026

The jury chose from five series: Hec and Kamarád produced by Czech Television, Oddíl B and Rekordwoman produced by Oneplay, and Táta produced by Prima+.[3] The prize went to the series Kamarád, written and directed by Petr Pylypčuk.[1][2] The jury praised its unaffected treatment of a difficult subject and its mature narrative style.[2] The series deals with the sexual abuse of children and is due to appear on Czech Television in spring 2027.[1][3]

A special mention from the jury went to the cast of the series Oddíl B, directed by Jan Prušinovský, for combining professional actors with non-actors.[2] The first edition of the section also included an audience vote, which Kamarád won.[3]
