In August 2026 a public prosecutor, by resolution, conditionally dropped the criminal prosecution of the engineering company Ferrit, which the police had charged with supplying mining machinery to Russia in breach of international sanctions. The decision was made public on 8 October 2026 by Czech Television.[1][2]

The charges

The company is based in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and makes rail vehicles for mining transport and mining loaders.[2] In September 2025 detectives from the National Organised Crime Agency (Národní centrála proti organizovanému zločinu) charged six people and the company. According to the investigators, seven machines reached Russia through intermediaries in other countries, even though their export was subject to restrictions.[2] According to Deník N, which was first to report on the prosecution, the machines went mainly through firms in Turkey and Georgia.[2]

The decision

The prosecutor set the company's probation period at twelve months. According to a spokesperson for the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Olomouc, before the decision the company paid EUR 1,058,635, roughly CZK 26 million, towards financial aid for crime victims.[2][3]

Four of the company's managers concluded plea agreements, which a court still has to approve. The prosecutor agreed monetary penalties with them ranging from CZK 150,000 to 500,000. The prosecution of two other people was discontinued.[1][2]

Change of owner

According to Deník N, in August 2026 control of the company was taken over by Sutor Holding of Most; until then it had been owned by three family companies.[2][3]
