Celé Česko čte dětem is a non-profit organisation founded in 2006 by Eva Katrušáková, who is now its director. Through a campaign and follow-up activities, it promotes regular reading aloud to children in families and other settings [1].

Focus

The organisation recommends that adults spend twenty minutes a day reading aloud. According to it, reading together can contribute to the development of language, memory and imagination and strengthen the bond between child and adult [1].

Supporters

Over two decades, more than 110 figures from culture, science and sport have taken part in the campaign's activities; its supporters have included Zdeněk Svěrák, Bolek Polívka and Barbora Špotáková. In the early years of the campaign, President Václav Havel was its patron [1].

Reading to Children Week

The organisation is behind the nationwide event Týden čtení dětem (Reading to Children Week). Its sixteenth edition took place from 1 to 7 October 2026 and brought together families, schools, kindergartens and libraries. President Petr Pavel took patronage of it [1]. The opening took place on 1 October 2026 at the puppet theatre in Ostrava and also marked twenty years of the organisation's work [1][2].
