Bedřichov is a place in the Jizera Mountains. It is the main starting point of the Jizerská magistrála, a cross-country ski trail whose grooming along almost its entire length is provided by the company Jizerská.[1][2] The trails in the Jizera Mountains are among the most popular cross-country trails in Czechia, and according to the Czech News Agency their attendance in recent years exceeds one million people.[1][2]
Artificial snow
Bedřichov is the only place on the Jizerská magistrála where artificial snow is made; the other sections depend on natural snow.[1][2] Before the 2025/2026 winter season, the place acquired, with the help of a European subsidy, a SnowPro 70 snowmaking device as a complement to the conventional snowmaking system. The device produces snow at temperatures of up to 26 degrees Celsius, whereas the more powerful conventional system needs frost.[1][2] According to Martin Kunc, director of the company Jizerská, the device is meant to guarantee cross-country skiing and biathlon clubs a start of the winter season for the training of children.[1][2]
In October 2026 the company Jizerská began making artificial snow at the Bedřichov stadium and plans to open the loop there on 21 November; its length depends on the weather.[1][2]
