The building authority in Třeboň has banned any further use of the Svět obrů amusement park on the grounds of the chateau in Chlum u Třeboně. According to the authority, the park was opened without the necessary permits and its use conflicts with the local zoning plan. The authority has also launched proceedings for the removal of the structure. The decision was reported by the media on 28 October 2026.[1][2]
Miroslav Roubal, head of the Třeboň department of urban planning and building regulations, stated that the park lies partly within the active zone of a flood area, contains a local biocorridor, is protected as a heritage site, and is located within the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area. If no one appeals the decision, it should, according to him, take legal effect next week, after which the park would not be allowed to open either this year or next. The operators can apply for the permits retroactively.[2]
The operators consider the decision disproportionate and have announced that they will appeal to the regional authority. According to them, the site is a seasonal educational exhibition made up of mobile exhibits, not a construction project or a permanent structure on the land.[2]
The site had previously been inspected by the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic, which, according to ČT24, sees a problem in an illegal dump in the stream bed. The Czech Environmental Inspectorate fined the operator 450,000 crowns for failing to cooperate during an inspection; the investigation into waste management continues. The season at Svět obrů was due to end on Sunday, 1 November 2026.[1][2]
