The building authority in Třeboň has ruled that the Svět obrů amusement park, located on the grounds of a château in Chlum u Třeboně, may no longer be used. According to the authority, the operator opened the park without the necessary permits, and its use conflicts with the local land-use plan. The decision was reported on 28 October 2026 by ČT24 and Deník. The authority has also launched proceedings for the removal of the structure.[1][2]

According to Deník, Miroslav Roubal, head of the land-use planning and building authority department in Třeboň, stated that the park partly extends into the active zone of a flood area, that a local biocorridor runs through it, that the site is a protected heritage area, and that it lies within the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area. If no one appeals the decision, it should take legal effect in the first week of November 2026, after which the park would not be allowed to open in 2026 or 2027. Representatives of the park may apply for additional permits retroactively.[2]

The operators consider the decision disproportionate and have announced they will appeal to the regional authority. They reject the characterization of their mobile exhibits as illegal structures without proper assessment. They describe the exhibition as a seasonal educational display made up of mobile exhibits, not as a permanent structure on the land.[2]

The park opened at the beginning of June 2026, and its season ends on 1 November 2026. The site was also inspected by the Nature and Landscape Protection Agency, which, according to ČT24, identified a problem with an illegal dump in the stream bed. The Czech Environmental Inspectorate fined the operator 450,000 crowns for failing to cooperate during an inspection; according to Deník, the investigation into waste management continues.[1][2] The park's owners had previously announced plans for an expansion that would increase the number of exhibits from around a hundred to more than 300.[2]
