At Plzeň-Bory prison (Plzeň, Bory district), several prison service officers were physically attacked by a convicted prisoner on the night of 27 to 28 October 2026. The prison governor confirmed the incident and said he would hand the matter over to the police. A spokeswoman for the Prison Service of the Czech Republic said that it was a current incident which the service was investigating, and therefore gave no further details for the time being.[1][3]

According to the server Krimi-Plzeň, on which iDNES.cz and Plzeňská Drbna draw, the prisoner first attacked two guards on Tuesday at about 23:00 and injured them. Four more guards came to their aid. Before the prisoner could be subdued, he injured another guard, and two others were affected by tear gas.[2][3] According to Novinky.cz, the attacker was taken to a civilian hospital under strict security measures.[1]

A spokesman for the regional ambulance service said that three crews were sent to the prison, and according to iDNES.cz also a vehicle with a doctor and an operations inspector. Paramedics took three people with minor injuries to a medical facility; according to Novinky.cz they were guards.[1][2] Krimi-Plzeň reports that paramedics treated five guards in total, two of whom stayed on the spot.[2][3]

A police spokeswoman said on 28 October 2026 that the police had no report of the incident so far and that the prison service was dealing with the matter.[2][3]
