Železné hory is an upland area in the eastern part of Bohemia and a protected landscape area.

According to the Czech Statistical Office, together with the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area it frames the south and southeast of the Pardubice Region, and it is counted among the protected landscape areas of that region [1]. The Statistical Office also lists it as one of two protected landscape areas in the Vysočina Region, alongside the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area [2].

In Bítovany in the Chrudim area, at the foot of Železné hory, a family winery grows grapevines on just under a hectare. [3]

According to the local winemaker, limestone, granite and sandstone alternate in the bedrock beneath the Bítovany vineyard. [3]
