Špičák is a basalt hill on the northern edge of Česká Lípa in the Liberec Region. At its summit stands a 14-metre brick tower from 1885, which serves as a telecommunications transmitter and is not normally open to the public. [1]
The area is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. In 2026, Městské lesy Česká Lípa completed a restoration of the forest costing roughly 2.5 million crowns. New benches were added, along with a renovated lookout over Česká Lípa and the surrounding area, and seven wooden sculptures created during the Česká Lípa wood-carving event at Lipý Castle. The nature trail and the path from the northern side, leading from the allotment colony towards the airport, were also repaired. The area also includes a three-kilometre singletrack trail for cyclists. [1] A large part of the cost of restoring the area was covered by a grant from the State Agricultural Intervention Fund. [1] The work also created culverts, ditches and areas designed to retain water in the forest stands and improve rainwater management. [1] Ninth-grade pupils from Základní škola Špičák in Česká Lípa also took part in the work on the singletrack trail. [1] The renovation of the singletrack trail cost 400,000 crowns, half of which Městské lesy Česká Lípa received from the ČEZ Group Foundation. [1] Builders widened the singletrack trail to 80 to 120 centimetres and covered it with new gravel. [1]

Completion of the Restoration of the Area around the Hill (October 2026)
In 2026, Městské lesy Česká Lípa completed the restoration of the suburban forest around Špičák. New trails, resting spots and artworks had already been added there in the summer. In October, the three-kilometre singletrack trail was also upgraded: builders widened it to 80 to 120 centimetres and reinforced it with new gravel. The work cost 400,000 crowns, half of which was paid by the ČEZ Group Foundation.[1]
Ninth-grade classes from Základní škola Špičák in Česká Lípa, as well as clients of the probation and mediation service performing community service work, also took part in the work on the singletrack trail. The work also included building culverts and ditches and areas to retain water in the forest stands. The restoration of the area cost roughly 2.5 million crowns in 2026, a large part of which was covered by a grant from the State Agricultural Intervention Fund.[1]
New benches, a newly renovated lookout over Česká Lípa and the surrounding landscape, and seven wooden sculptures from the Česká Lípa wood-carving event at Lipý Castle were added for visitors. The nature trail and the path from the northern side of the hill, leading from the allotment colony towards the airport, were also repaired. The information was provided to the Czech News Agency by town hall spokeswoman Kristýna Kňákal Brožová.[1]
