In October 2026 the Vodní nádrž Husinec reservoir on the Blanice in the Prachatice District in the South Bohemian Region almost dried up, as the first Czech dam to do so.

Vodní nádrž Husinec lies on the Blanice River in the Prachatice District in the South Bohemian Region. In October 2026 it was reported as the first Czech dam to have almost dried up.[1][2]
Drought in 2026
Jiří Baloun, director of the Horní Vltava branch of Povodí Vltavy, told the Czech News Agency on 6 October 2026 that, because of the extreme drought, the reservoir would begin to release only its inflow and would stop helping the flow of the Blanice with water. According to him, the storage space holds 1.3 percent of the usual volume and the water level is seven metres lower than under normal conditions.[1][2] The South Bohemian Region also declared a state of drought for the whole region, which among other things makes it easier to manage outflow from reservoirs.[1][2]
