The Labour Office of the Czech Republic (Úřad práce ČR) published unemployment figures for September on 8 October 2026. The unemployment rate was five percent, the same as in the previous two months. A year earlier it was 4.5 percent [1].

At the end of September the labour offices registered 368,377 job seekers, 5,514 fewer than at the end of August. The number of vacancies rose by 5,085 to 104,359. According to Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Aleš Juchelka, there are on average 3.5 job seekers per vacancy. The Director General of the Labour Office, Roman Chlopčík, said that the labour market remains stable and described the increase in the number of graduates on the register as a normal part of September [1].

Unemployment was highest in the Ústí nad Labem Region (7.3 percent), followed by the Moravian-Silesian Region (7 percent) and the Karlovy Vary Region (5.8 percent). It was lowest in Prague (3.9 percent), the Pardubice Region (4 percent) and the Plzeň Region, Hradec Králové Region and Vysočina Region (4.1 percent each). Compared with August the figure was unchanged in the Karlovy Vary Region and the Ústí nad Labem Region, and in the other regions it fell by 0.1 percentage point [1].

Among the districts, unemployment was highest in Karviná (10.5 percent), Most (10.4 percent) and Bruntál (8.4 percent). It was below three percent in the Praha-východ, Praha-západ and Rychnov nad Kněžnou districts. In September 56,585 people newly registered, 62,099 left the register and 45,568 started a new job. Women made up 54 percent of those registered, or 198,746 [1].

Employers offered the most vacancies in Prague (almost 24,000) and in the Central Bohemian Region (about 15,500). The most job seekers per vacancy were in the Karviná area (20.4), the Ústí nad Labem district (17.8) and the Děčín area (17.4). The office pointed out that its vacancy data do not cover the whole labour market, because some offers are advertised on internet portals and social networks [1].
