Tomáš Macháč is a Czech tennis player. In 2022 Czech Television described him as a "Czech Davis Cup representative", that is, a member of the Czech Republic's team for the Davis Cup competition [2]. Macháč plays both singles and doubles and has competed in Challenger-level tournaments as well as at the Summer Olympic Games.

2022 season

In February 2022 he played at the indoor tournament in Marseille, where in the second round of the singles he lost to the Russian player Roman Safiullin 6:7, 4:6, 6:7 [2]. According to the source, he was twenty-one years old at the time [2]. In the first set he saved three set points in the tiebreak, which he went on to win, but his opponent turned the match around and took the deciding set in a tiebreak 7:4 [2].

In April of the same year he played at the TK Sparta Prague Open challenger. In the quarterfinal he beat Lukáš Rosol, but he injured his ribs during that match [3]. Because of the rib injury he had to withdraw from the semifinal, which he was to play against the defending champion Dalibor Svrčina, who therefore advanced to the final without a fight [3]. Macháč said to Tenisový svět: "I was really looking forward to the match, but unfortunately I can't lift my arm at all. The ribs are in really bad shape." [3] He added that he wished his opponent luck in the final [3]. Svrčina responded with the words: "I'm sad that I won't be playing the semifinal against Tomáš today... I wish him a quick recovery and I think his decision is the right one." [3]
