The environmental and intergenerational project MotýLOVE started in the Moravian-Silesian Region at the end of October 2026. It runs in Ostrava, Havířov, Třinec, Krnov, Bruntál and Bohumín. More than 40 organisations have joined: kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, care homes for seniors and senior clubs.[1][2]

In spring 2027, secondary school students are to establish flower meadows on the grounds of schools, kindergartens and care homes for seniors and look after them together with children. The organisers plan to create at least ten meadows and to release at least 200 butterflies on them in summer 2027, raised from caterpillars by children in kindergartens. Two smaller meadows have already been created in Krnov. The largest meadow, of about 100 square metres, is to be created in Třinec on the reclaimed Neboranka landfill, where the company Třinecké železárny is a partner in the project.[1][2]

The project is carried by the Bohumín Secondary School which, according to its head Liběna Orságová, is the first school in the region to carry out all its parts, including a butterfly show for kindergarten children. The author of the project is Ivan Sekanina, chairman of the association Počteníčko. The actress Kamila Janovičová is its patron, and the governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region, Josef Bělica (ANO 2011), has taken it under his auspices.[1][2]

The project also includes a collection of mugs that are to become Christmas gifts for residents of care homes for seniors. The organisers want to collect at least a thousand by the end of the year and to put into each a tea or coffee sachet and a colouring page with a butterfly motif. According to reports, senior women from various parts of the region are knitting hundreds of pairs of socks for residents of the homes.[1][2]
