A covered car park with 2,700 photovoltaic panels has been built at the Denso site in Liberec, which Deník describes as the largest solar car park in Czechia.

A covered car park with photovoltaic panels has been built at the site of the car air-conditioning manufacturer Denso in Liberec. According to Deník, it covers 482 parking spaces and consists of 2,700 panels with an output of 1.8 megawatts, and it is the largest installation of its kind in Czechia. iDNES.cz gives a capacity of up to 500 cars.[1][2]
Operation and use
Electricity from the car park is to partly supply the plant, which, according to Akihiko Kakiuchi, president of Denso Manufacturing Czech, produces over 9,600 air-conditioning units a day. Part of the energy will also be used for charging electric cars; the car park includes 14 chargers. According to iDNES.cz, the car park is to cover four to five percent of the plant's consumption and, together with the photovoltaic plant on the site from 2024, about a tenth. Kamil Čermák, CEO of ČEZ ESCO, said that the last administrative steps remain to be completed and the power plant should start operating by mid-November 2026.[1][2]
Financing
The power plant was built by ČEZ ESCO with the company Carporio and handed over to Denso for a symbolic one crown. Denso will pay it off over ten years in the price of the electricity it takes. According to iDNES.cz, the installation will remain in the ownership of ČEZ ESCO for that period, which takes care of its management and cleaning, and will then hand it over to the customer.[1][2]
