Sokol Remembrance Day was marked on 8 October 2026 by, among others, the Prague 4 municipal office.[1]
Prague 4 Mayor Ondřej Kubín (ODS) wrote on social media that this day pays tribute to Sokol members who paid with their lives for courage, patriotism and the defence of freedom. He recalled those who were executed, imprisoned and tortured during the Nazi occupation, as well as those persecuted by the communist regime.[1] Kubín said that he and his colleagues had traditionally commemorated Sokol Remembrance Day.[1] He added that the courage of Sokol members and their loyalty to democratic values deserve respect and lasting remembrance.[1]
According to Pražský patriot, a Sokol flag was also flown that day at the Prague 5 municipal office.[1] On this occasion, the Prague 5 municipal office stated that it was commemorating the courage, dedication and patriotism of thousands of Sokol members who worked for freedom and democracy.[1]
