Skylink is a satellite and internet television service that has been offered to customers in Czechia and Slovakia since 2007. The Canal+ group announced on 12 October 2026 that it will end the Skylink brand and that from 22 October 2026 the services will operate under the name Canal+ [1][2].
Change of brand
Satellite and internet television, live broadcasting and streaming content, that is foreign films and series, local productions and sports broadcasts, are to be combined under one brand. The Canal+ streaming app is also to be made available. Existing customers are to continue with their current subscriptions, and according to the operator the name is not to affect how the services work [1][2].
New channels
From 22 October 2026 the offer will expand by four channels: Canal+, Canal+ Drama, Canal+ Crime and Canal+ Classics. Customers are to receive them automatically. Canal+ will focus on original productions, foreign films, sport and Czech and Slovak film premieres, Drama on stories about relationships and emotions, Crime on crime and detective productions, and Classics on older films and classics. The existing channel Canal+ Action is to concentrate on action films and Hollywood blockbusters. The Canal+ Sport channels will continue to broadcast the English Premier League, the Barclays Women's Super League, WTA tournaments, padel and rugby [1][2].
The placement of the new channels in packages and the prices have not yet been specified. The company intends to present details on Monday, 19 October 2026 [2].
Owner
Skylink has belonged to the French media group Canal+ since 2019, when the group took over its previous owner M7 Group, which had bought the brand in 2011. The renaming will unify the name of the Czech and Slovak service with the name of its owner [2].
