From 10 October 2026, Dopravní podnik města Brna shortened boat service on the Brno Reservoir because of the low water level; the boats end at Veveří Castle.

Dopravní podnik města Brna restricted boat service on the Brno Reservoir from Saturday 10 October 2026. The route from Bystrc ends at Veveří Castle, and the boats no longer sail to Veverská Bítýška. Spokesperson Hana Tomaštíková linked the measure to the low water level of the reservoir and expects it to apply until the end of the navigation season on 31 October [1][2][3].
Changes in service
The boats skip the stops Mečkov, Skály and Veverská Bítýška, and the U kotvy stop is out of service. Because the access gangways are lowered, barrier-free access is not possible and passengers using electric wheelchairs cannot be carried. In October the boats sail at weekends, and daily from 28 to 31 October [1][2][3].
Water level of the reservoir
According to Jana Kučerová, spokesperson of Povodí Moravy, the level is lower because of drought, not because of the repair of the dam, which began at the end of September. The outflow from the Vír dam was reduced in mid-September from 1.3 to 0.63 cubic metres per second. According to Povodí Moravy, the Brno Reservoir was 83 percent full on 9 October and its level was about 110 centimetres below the storage space. On the morning of that day it stood at 227.97 metres above sea level and held 12.19 million cubic metres of water, compared with 13.3 million in the second half of August. Kučerová recalled that the level was even lower in 1991 and 1992, when the boats sailed only to Rokle [1][2][3].
