In October 2026 the Hradec Králové Region is starting the second stage of the modernisation of the hospital in Náchod; the construction of the new pavilion D is to finish in November 2029.

The Hradec Králové Region presented the second stage of the modernisation of the hospital in Náchod on 8 October 2026. The construction work, worth CZK 1.525 billion excluding VAT, was won in a public tender by the association of companies GEOSAN and BAK. The region describes the stage as one of the largest investments in its history.[1][2]
Progress of the work
Preparatory construction work is to begin in October 2026 and be completed and approved for use by May 2027. First, new escape routes and replacement facilities will be set up for the departments affected. Then pavilions D and E will be demolished in spring 2027. The new pavilion D and the central covered hall are to be built from spring or summer 2027, and the whole construction is to be finished in November 2029. The hospital will remain in operation throughout.[1]
The new pavilion
Pavilion D will have three partly sunken and five above-ground floors, and a connecting corridor will link it with the existing parts of the hospital. It is to house laboratories with a transfusion station, internal medicine and urology outpatient clinics, an oncology day unit, haemodialysis, a urology department, internal medicine intensive and intermediate care units, an internal medicine inpatient department and a long-term care hospital. The project also includes an underground CT examination room, alterations to pavilions J and K, and insulation of the roofs and outer walls of pavilions B and C.[1]
Context
According to governor Petr Koletr (ANO), the region has already invested more than two billion crowns in the site. The first stage ended in 2020 with the construction of pavilions J and K for CZK 1.4 billion, and their equipment cost a further CZK 400 million.[1] According to iROZHLAS, the region will pay more than CZK 1.5 billion for the modernisation.[2]
