At the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati she reached the semi-final of a tournament in this category for the first time. On the way there she eliminated, according to Czech Television, for example the previous year's Australian Open champion Madison Keys and world number one Aryna Sabalenka. Before the semi-final she had five wins behind her.[1]
In the semi-final she lost to the American Coco Gauff, the world number four, 4:6, 1:6 in an hour and sixteen minutes on a hard court. According to Czech Television she lost her serve six times and made 31 unforced errors. In the first set, after losing her serve twice, she trailed 1:4 but levelled, only to lose her serve again in the ninth game.[1]
Thanks to this result she was, according to Czech Television, due to move up to a career-high 29th place in the world rankings.[1] Gauff said of her that she is a player to watch out for.[1]
