The administration of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park closed the Rudolfův kámen viewpoint near Jetřichovice in the Děčín area for just under a month to repair the summit gazebo, which was in poor technical condition. It is due to reopen to hikers on Monday 2 November 2026.[1][2]

Scope of the repair

The repair included replacing damaged load-bearing elements, renewing the wooden cladding and the roof, and a new coat of paint. According to the park administration spokesman Tomáš Salov, the cost is roughly 250,000 crowns. The administration did not want to demolish the gazebo or build a new one and decided to keep the structure while replacing worn-out parts.[1][2]

Salov said that the more extensive maintenance was triggered by the rotting of one of the load-bearing beams, which had made the gazebo unstable.[1]

Plans for next year

For 2027, the park administration plans to repair the access paths to all three Jetřichovice viewpoints (Mariina vyhlídka, Vilemínina stěna and Rudolfův kámen), including the sandstone steps. For hikers' safety, short-term closures of parts of the trails are expected, and a schedule is meant to prevent all three viewpoints from being closed at the same time. The administration is now selecting a contractor for the works.[1][2]
