Prague Zoo, commonly Zoo Praha, has the exhibits Papouščí stezka, Rákosův pavilon and the Indonéská džungle pavilion. The zoo also breeds lorikeets, parrots that are among the birds demanding to keep.[1][2]

Breeding of lorikeets

The zoo acquired red-bearded lorikeets in 1997 and, since the first breeding in 2003, has bred more than thirty of them. According to the zoo, the golden-eared lorikeets in the Rákosův pavilon can be seen in continental Europe only in Prague, and they were first bred successfully in 2022. The zoo has kept orange-breasted lorikeets since 2018, when it obtained its first birds from the specialised bird park Weltvogelpark Walsrode in Germany. The zoo makes use of the option of placing a chick of one species under an experienced pair of another species.[1][2]
