Polná is a town in the Jihlava area. Jindřich Skočdopole has been its mayor since 1998 and has led the town hall continuously; in 2022 he entered his seventh term [2].

Local government

In the 2022 elections the movement Nezávislí pro Polnou won nine of the 21 council seats, and Skočdopole received 1,115 votes [2]. The deputy mayor is Martin Bohdálek of the same movement; the opposition includes the grouping SNK POLNÁ 2030 [1].

2026 municipal elections

On 2 October 2026 Skočdopole announced in a statement on the website of the Nezávislí pro Polnou movement that he would not seek any leadership position in the town in the October municipal elections. He urged citizens to support the groupings he represents in the elections, namely Nezávislí pro Polnou and the association Poleňáci pro Polnou [1][2]. According to Deník, his name remained in first place on the Nezávislí pro Polnou candidate list, so if elected he could serve only as an ordinary councillor [2].

Dispute over the mayor remaining in office

According to Deník: Vysočina, in July 2026 the District Court in Jihlava approved a plea agreement under which Skočdopole was convicted of misappropriating funds of the Mikroregion Polensko and of the football club Slavoj Polná; he received a two-year prison sentence suspended for two and a half years [2]. At the last council meeting before the elections the opposition proposed his removal. The item was withdrawn from the agenda and six opposition councillors left the meeting [1][2].
