On the morning of 21 October 2026 police intervened in the municipality of Žeravice in the Hodonín region, where, according to the police, a man was endangering his surroundings and then barricaded himself in his house. Officers received the report at about ten o'clock. The centre of the village around the church and road 4225 through the village were closed.

According to police spokeswoman Petra Hrůzová, officers were communicating with the man, no injuries had been recorded and the man was alone in the house. Some residents received a text message warning them not to leave their homes. A tactical unit and a helicopter were called in, and firefighters and the ambulance service were also on site. Ambulance service spokeswoman Michaela Bothová said nobody had yet turned to the paramedics and that they were on site ready to help. [2]

The mayor of the municipality, Lubomír Hradil (independent), said the police had sent him a message about a booby-trap system in the house.
