Plumlovská přehrada is a reservoir near Plumlov in the Prostějov area, part of the Plumlov water works.

Plumlovská přehrada is a reservoir in the Olomouc Region near Plumlov in the Prostějov area. It is a popular destination for tourists and holidaymakers. According to iDNES.cz, its main purpose is to reduce flood flows and, in times of drought, to improve minimum flows of the small river Hloučela.[1]
Origin and the original ponds
The dam was completed in the 1930s. Before construction, the Zlechovský and Stichovský ponds stood on its site, with histories going back several centuries. The embankment of the lower-lying Stichovský pond served as the basis of today's dam wall, while the embankment of the Zlechovský pond ended up under water after filling.[1][2]
Repair of the dam
For cleaning the bottom and repairing the dam wall, the reservoir was drained at the end of 2009, and in autumn 2013, after construction work was completed, it began to be refilled. Povodí Moravy invested roughly 270 million crowns in the work, which according to the report improved water quality.[1]
Drought in 2026
The maximum retention water level is 277.58 metres above sea level. At the end of September 2026, owing to long-term drought and lower inflow, it fell to roughly 270.5 metres, almost three metres below the level of the storage space. The stone embankment of the medieval Zlechovský pond emerged from the water and runs across almost the entire width of the reservoir. According to journalists, it attracted hikers and cyclists. The embankment is visible above the water only when the reservoir is drawn down heavily, for example for repairs, or in extreme drought.[1][2][3]
